Reid's last day of K-2

Boy did this year fly by!! Little Reidy's first experience with "school". He started out great, all ready to go and excited. Somewhere in the middle of the year we basically had to pry his little hands off the seats in the car to get him out--he hated it!! And then in the end he accepted it and liked his school. And every time we are on Ridgewood Road and we pass Covenant Presbyterian he yells out "Das MY school....das MY school!!"

Here comes Reid for the last time as a "2" with his sweet teacher Mrs. Robinson.

Summer time here we come!!

See you next year Covenant!

Barnyard Praise

Every year FPDS Kindergartner's put on the program "Barnyard Praise". The play is set on a farm where the Fruits of the Spirit are planted and harvested. I cannot even begin to explain just how precious this play was and how I will bring a box of kleenex with me when it is Reid's turn to perform the play!

There's my Jake, front and center, and the only one in blue!!! (They gave us options-how was I to know that no one would opt to wear blue! I will have my act together when it's Reid's turn!)

When his teacher asked him if he wanted to be a singer or a dancer in the program Jake replied that since he was "Ice Dancer" for the Thanksgiving party it was only right that he should be a dancer in the play! Here he is on stage "dancing" to Wonderfully Made.

Terrible picture, but that is John Quitman giving it his all! I will tell you that I spent the majority of this program trying my best to hold back tears. It was absolutely precious and every song was filled with such Biblical truth. When they sang the song about how life is like a donut and there is a hole in your heart until Christ fills it with His sweet goodness I thought I was going to loose it!!

Poor Grandpa, we kept his dance card filled (if you know what I mean) with all the school functions we had him attending!

Here is our star performer, always eager to start drawing.

Jake and Worth

Jake and the fabulous Mrs. Pringle. We miss her so!!

And as a treat for such a riveting performance, we took Jake and Reid to get donuts from Campbell's. Our treat reminded me that our heart is like a donut if we do not have Christ to fill it!

Hollywood was probably ringing our phone off the hook with offers while we ate our donuts!

"Barnyard Praise" was a fabulous-wonderful-second to none-play that makes paying the tuition worth every penny! Can't wait to see Reid in a straw hat reciting the Fruits of the Spirit.

Tea Party for Two's!

If you are a regular to The Vineyard's of Mississippi blog then you know it's been a while since I have posted. I am a bit behind (to say the very least) and have the most wonderful intentions of catching up. So April and Laura--I make this pledge to the two of you...I will do everything in my power to never let my Blog get this far behind again...I will do my best..and remember my best sometimes stinks.
Moving on. Last May, Reid and the rest of the two year old classes had a "Tea Party" for the parents. They sang all the songs they learned from year. Precious it was, though Reid didn't sing a lick. In fact, in one song, he completely turned his back to the audience until one teacher turned him back around.

Here are the little darlings

Reid and Ellie. He did get into one song. Something about dinosaurs marching. He likes to growl so he participated in that one.

Grandpa was in town just in time to attend the tea party.

Reid and his cookie

Reid did a wonderful job in his performance, even if he didn't perform.

Roller Rink Birthday Party!

A classmate of Jake's had his birthday party at Fun Time Skate Land in Clinton. I was quite the skeptic on mixing roller skates and six year-olds, but to my surprise they did great. Even little Reidy strapped on a pair and cruised the rink!!

The trick was to tighten the skate. Once they did that, Jake was all for it. (Before that, not so much!)

Here is Reidy's skate! Is that not the cutest thing you've ever seen?!

Sassy and in charge! Reid never doubted his ability in skates.

In the beginning, they made the loop of the rink holding onto this rail. It was everything I could do to keep myself from lacing up a pair of my own skates and showing these boys how it's done! (I was quite the roller skater back in the day!!)

Loved Mac's cake! Tasted good too.

Thomas, Jake and Blake

Yes Reid, you get a piece of cake too.
(Reid never met a birthday party he didn't like-invited or not!)

I cannot say enough how much Ms. Pac Man and Skating Rinks take me back to a better time. Oh, how I LOVED and miss the '80's!!!

Roll-on Jake!!
Highly recommend Fun Time for your next shin-dig. Lots of fun!

The Big Six!

While viewing this post, you may feel as though you are experiencing some major de ja vu or that you are perhaps, seeing double. Your eyes do not deceive you--we actually had TWO Chuck E Cheese birthday parties this year! Major points for originality!

We started off the day with Krispy Kreme donuts for Jake's class (chocolate with sprinkles!). I also got the opportunity to read to the classroom. We read Jake's special book My Very Own Name.

"Happy Birthday to you....cha cha cha!"
Now onto Chuck E Cheese!

The Mario and Luigi cake! My mother found every Super Mario Bro. character from an ebay store in Hong Kong. When we got them in the mail I knew they would make perfect cake toppers for Jake's birthday. I enjoyed making this one and I thought it turned out pretty good.

Please note the Mario and Luigi emblems on the cupcakes.

These balloons became the inspiration for the birthday cake.

Happy Birthday, Jake!!

Jake's buddy Chambers.

Bo and Buddy came all the way from Starkville!!
We couldn't imagine a party without these two!

Ben and Jacob still in their Kripsy Kreme hats from the morning party.

Bo

The moms

Davis and Emmie!! What would our party be without the Cummins Family?!

Bon Bon...Keeper of Reid. I don't know what I would do without her help!!!

Jake won a free cotton candy with this game!! That was good news for me!

Mr. Patton Kincaid

Time to start the party. Notice the "Luigi" plates!

Sweet Reidy!!

Partyin' with The Cheese!

Baby Luke hittin' the birthday party scene for the first time.
(if only his mother understood just how many children birthday parties she will have to attend in her lifetime. It would blow her mind!!)

Sweet Ellen

I have no idea what he was after...there is no telling with Jake!

Time to crown the king!

Who wouldn't like an inflatable crown filled with tokens!

I love this picture!

Time to blow out the candles....cha cha cha!

Happy Birthday, my sweet boy!

One final picture before we slice into the big blue sky!

We had a great time again celebrating with the Cheese. Maybe next year I will be more creative, but probably not. It's tough doing two parties back to back.

This picture says it all. That's my Jake!
