Dinning out with two children.... not for the faint of heart!

What can I tell you about dinning out with your children on vacation. Hmmm..I'm thinking of the right words.....I know--don't do it! Just accept the fact early on that you need to order take out and stay in the room. Only two meals worked out well for us on our trip.
The first was Johnny Rocket's.
The reason that worked out is because Reidy was free to move about.

Here is Reidy trying to exit the place 5 minutes after we arrived.

The food was very good and the place was a flash back to Xan's Diner!

Later, Reid ditched the exit door and decided to sit on the risers and make raspberry sounds at people.

Jake had to join in!
After lunch, some pictures at the Destin Commons. Very nice shopping area, much like Renaissance in Ridgeland.

Me and my boys!

The other meal that was a success and by far our favorite, was The Back Porch. Great seafood and wonderful atmosphere. You cannot tell it in the picture, but the window at our table was completely open and we could see the beach and hear the waves as we ate. And for what ever reason, the Good Lord just smiled down on us, Reid was a champ through dinner.

I had the scallops..they were delicious!!

The Back Porch will always be a special memory of our trip. It was just perfect!

Still more to come (I took 398 pictures) check back again!

Destin

Last Wednesday our family left for a long awaited vacation to Destin, Florida. But not before Reid woke that morning vomiting all over the house. This was just the start to an action packed day. First to drop Jake off at school and then a trip to the doctor's office. Onto CVS phamacy where Reid went at it again and then later to Kroger for the right medicine. After picking Jake up from school around noon, Reid had developed a fever on top of his tummy troubles. Through all this I still had not packed our family. We went back and forth all day whether to go or to stay. Finally around 5:00 o'clock we threw caution to the wind, loaded the car, put plenty of towels over Reid's carseat, and headed off to Florida.

Reid had a little fever the next day and was fine by the afternoon. Here are the boys early one morning on the beach.

Jake lives for the beach. He cannot get enough out it!! It is all he talks about.

Reid on the other hand doesn't really care for the sand. In fact most of the pictures I have of him are him reaching up to me to be picked up off the sand.

Reid finally warmed up to the idea of the beach as long as he could sit on the towel!

My boys!

There's a smile on our little Reidy!
Please don't think we are bad parents for taking a sick child to the beach.
Besides we always heard salty air was good for illnesses....right?!

Stay tuned....more "Beach Posts" to come!

Hang in there with us!

To my dear and devoted readers of "The Vineyard Famiy",
Please forgive the lack of posts. We have been busy doing a whole lot of nothing and Xan has had my camera doing goodness knows what with it at work. We have an action packed week ahead and are sure to have LOTS to post when we return from our trip. Please remember to check back next week as I promise to not disappoint! Thank you for your faithfulness to our blog!

Hugs and Kisses,
The Vineyard Family

Christmas in October

Every fall at First Baptist they put on a ladies luncheon called Celebration. This program features tablescapes created by different people in the church. We also have a speaker and lunch is served by all the men in the church. It is so much fun and in recent years my friend Tamah and I have been decorating the Rejoice Bible Study table. Every year we are a hit and this year was no different!

We decided to go with a Christmas theme this year. (Duh...?!)

It annoys me when people say "the pictures don't do it justice", but you know, the pictures don't do our table justice!

Other wannabe tables.

One more shot of ours!

And the most pleasant part of the Luncheon was seeing my mother-in-law's dear friend Mrs. Frances Cooley. I must admit, it's odd to see her out and about without Mrs. LaBon by her side!

Tamah and Heather

The beautiful Natalie Adkins

Dana and Natalie. We all had to look under the tree to talk to one another during lunch.

This year was another success. It's time for Tamah and me to get crackin' on next years table!

Pics from the past week

These are just some random shots from the previous week. Mainly of Reidy. Please know that I try to balance Jake and Reid's pictures. It may seem that Reid get's a lot of "blog time" but that's only because Jake won't stand still long enough to make a picture and Reid lives to pose for the camera. They are night and day!

This picture is for Grandpa. Go Gators!

The boys at the park with the Carter brother's and Abigail.

The children had the entire park, but they all wanted to play near the woods with the sticks.

Reid was only interested in eating Abigail's sandwhich.

Who could resist that face?! Certainly not me!!!!

See what I mean, he's a ham for the camera!!

Is it just me or does he sorta look Amish?

Back to School Night!

Jake's preschool put on a Back to School Night last week. We got a chance to see Jake's room, talk with Mrs. Morgan, and meet the other children in the class as well as their parents. They also had activities outside for the children along with a train ride. It was a lot of fun and I wish I would have taken more pictures!!

This is Jake patiently waiting his turn to go fishing.

He's gotta big one!

Jake caught a pen, which he later told me was lame. ( I don't know what he was expecting to hook on the line)

This little boy is my dear friend Amanda's son Joseph. Amanda and I were sooo excited to learn they were in the same class!

The train ride was a big hit with Jake and Joseph. Again, I should have had my camera clicking away!
