Jake's Field Trip

Jake's class took a field trip to the Natural Science Museum a few weeks ago (I know, I know ...I am really stinkin' it up with my posting!). Jake's class is just the cutest little group. There are 8 children and they all get along so well. This really is a sweet age.

Here they all are in the Preschool Room at the Museum. On this particular day the lady taught the class about worms.

....and alligators! (I touched it!)

The slide was the biggest hit. Sorry worm lady!

Anna Grace and Jake were sooooo cute. They were holding their noses and pretending to be underwater. They waddled all over the deck "swimming" underwater with the alligators and turtles.

Jake and Joseph breakin' it down while waiting for Mrs. Morgan.

Digging for fossils.

Jake shouting for the world to hear "Look Anna Grace, a sloth".

As we were leaving all the children thought it would be funny to hold the gate so Lewis' dad couldn't go through. Mrs. Morgan had to go and break up the little trouble makers. Another moment funny only to me.

Bam! Pow! Zap!

Scratching my head this year on a duo for the boys to be, I settled on Batman and Robin. I gotta say, that even though it was a very simple idea, my boys pulled it off well. This years costumes were definitely crowd pleasers!!
I can't make up my mind what is so funny about these costumes. Is it Jake and the muscles? Or just Reidy in general?

We asked Jake to strike a pose and this is what we got!

The Robin costume was a much bigger hit than expected! There was something about the way his belly fell over his belt that endeared many to Reid and his costume.

First stop is always to Bon Bon's and Pop Pop's.

Reid liked to eat the suckers while they were still in the wrapper.

My Heroes!!

Reid is obsessed with "Babies". Here he is checking out cousin Blake. Reid doesn't know that he is still a baby himself!

The boys saving me from the evil Uncle Erik! Thanks boys, but y'all are about 36 years too late.

And finally, what Halloween would be complete without Aunt Colleen's fabulous Sugar Cookies with icing! She really does make the best cookies. I thought I was going to have to wait till Christmas for them, but she surprised us with these. Thank you Aunt Colleen!!

Until next time....

This years vacation was full of many challenges and many hours in prayer. I would have to say that Xan and I came home more seasoned than when we left. But overall it was a wonderful trip. In fact the trip ended up being such a success that we stayed an extra day. We are lucky to have such a good Daddy to let us do that!

We may make a beach lover out of Reidy after all!

Jake would climb up to the top bunk and throw things at Xan. It was pretty funny!

Until next year my friends.
And let us all pray that on our next trip, we will all be healthy and all well behaved!

Destin continued

Here are some more scenes from Destin. This time from the inside of the Holidome. The hotel Xan chose was directly on the beach and had many amenities inside. We stayed in a kid suite that had a little room with bunk beds, bean bags, and a TV with DVD player and PlayStation. The hotel also had "The Little Buccaneers Club". This was a room for kids filled with every board game you could think of, puzzles, trains, blocks...etc. It was great. We really enjoyed the Holidome and will definitely go back.

Here are the boys eating pizza in their "room". This was our first day at Destin and a tough one to say the least. The reason we were eating pizza in the room was because both boys had meltdowns at the restaurant Cheeseburger in Paradise (it was truly a nightmare that ended with Reid screaming all the way through the restaurant as Xan carried him out..apparently I am not the only one who is not a fan of Jimmy Buffet! I really thought that we were going to go back to the room pack and leave. Thankfully we cooled off over pizza from Merlins).

Here is Reid making liars out of his parents. "I dare you to prove I was sick" says Reid!

Jake, just as thoughtful in Destin as he is at home!

Again y'all, I had the thermometer to prove the child was ill.

The Vineyard brothers and their Daddy end almost everyday by wrestling on the bed or as we call it at home "Vineyard Arena".

The next day was much more promising. We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant and then we went for a swim in the pool.

It had appeared that by the second day we had made it through the worst and things were looking up!
